Introducing the Momyer Chiropractic Chiropractors

Dr. Dennis Momyer

I grew up with frequent headaches. There were a lot of medically oriented professions in my family and in those days they didn't think about chiropractic. After high school, I went to see a chiropractor on my own and, as they say, the rest is history. I had almost instant relief but, more important to me, I learned the overall health benefits of chiropractic. Right then I realized that I not only wanted to remain under chiropractic care, but I wanted to become a chiropractor myself.  read more»

Dr. Douglas Teraoka

Left to Right: Dr. Dennis Momyer, Dr. Jeffrey Lee and Dr. Douglas TeraokaI was first introduced to chiropractic after sustaining an injury to my lower back in a Karate tournament. At first I tried to treat myself and I thought that the pain would eventually go away. The pain lingered and it, in fact, became progressively worse. I then sought professional advice and was prescribed some pain medication. The pain pills seemed to help alleviate the pain, however I noticed that after several hours the pain would return and I would have to take more pills and soon I had to increase the dosage of medication to obtain any level of relief. I eventually realized that I had become dependent on the pain pills and I "needed" them to feel good and function. Someone suggested that I should see a chiropractor for evaluation and treatment.  read more»

Dr. Jeffrey Lee

I thought chiropractic was only good for back pain. I had no idea that it could have life-changing effects on things like allergies, asthma or diabetes.  I was 16 years old playing football on the Big Island of Hawaii. One day before practice, we went up to Anna's Pond to go for a swim and I decided to jump from the top of the waterfall. The jump was 65 feet high and I had done it in the past with no problem. This time was different though... When I hit the water I felt a twinge in my lower back. IT wasn't painful, it just felt a little off kilter. Nevertheless, it didn't bother me too much so I went straight to football practice.  read more»

Dr. Dennis Asks some important questions of interest to Honolulu residents - Chiropractor Honolulu Dr. Dennis Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
How do most people deal with subluxations?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Honolulu chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care.
